woe

The rain has finally stopped, it is gloriously sunny outside and my obsessive frequenting of bbc weather informs me that it will continue to be gorgeous for the next five days.

Only I am ill. And have hay fever. Well the hay fever part I can live with, besides I am finally in the posession of medicine, but the horrible illness thing is not on. My head hurts and my throat and I can't concentrate but I need to work, I really do, as I didn't write a single essay last week, which was nice at the time, but not anymore. I have had eleven hours of sleep and now all I want is to go back to bed.

Woe.

Ooh, I have been wanting to do the first kiss meme

Give me two characters, and I'll write their first kiss.

Fandoms I am willing to write in: Harry Potter, Heroes, the OC, Smallville, Firefly, Scrubs. Crossovers welcome.

I am going to make myself some herbal tea with honey and then go to boots and buy some medicines. And then come back and read about Causation.

I am ill and that is rather tragic, for everyone else has already gone through the illness stage and is now getting better and I thought that I had for once survived unscathed but sadly it is not the case. It is never the case, my immune system is poo. Throat hurts rather insistently second day in a row and I know that when I wake up tomorrow I will feel utterly awful.

But I need to write an essay tomorrow and read for another one and not be ill. :(

Weekend was good, spend ages in the library, because all my books are confined (For being such a popular option, IR sucks when it comes to books, they are rarer than gold :( ) but the library closes early on weekend and they kick you out and if you have no books you can't do work and are free!

So went to the Duke of Cambridge for half prize awesome cocktail, then out to dinner, so nice to do that without the guilt.

Watched Blood Diamond. It is amazing. Recommend it to everyone, it is just so real, behind Leo's dodgy accent and the random thing with the random reporter there is such a powerful story and it is real and it hurts. It's one thing to be aware that there are child soldiers in Africa, a very different kind of knowledge is seeing them. I was in tears for a large part of it, starting to sob only about three minutes into the film. Amnesty are currently doing a campaign and the facts are scary.

Today was the coldest day this term, after the mildness of the last week it was a shock to go outside wrapped up in a million jumpers and scarf and gloves and feel so utterly, horribly cold.

I am ill, also an idiot. The two are not related I don't think, though if they were that would make me feel a bit better.

Illness is sucky, sore throat, headache, blocked nose, standard symptoms I guess, only it means that haven't done anything productove which I was meant to, oh god the stupid holiday will be over so soon and I haven't done any revision whatsoever and haven't even applied for internships. I am an utter failure.

In other news, the idiot news, booked return train ticked for the wrong date, had to cancel and lose a fiver and maybe never get any of the money back, it's meant to take about a month. It is ridiculous. What makes it worse is that if I had booked not a week ago or evn yesterday but like an hour a go it would have been £10 cheaper but then the cheap option disappeared by the time I had finished my lunch. Yay! Not. :(((

Thankfully [livejournal.com profile] yuletide  is a thing of joy, though another way of not doing useful things, woe. But. Recs:

My Holiday Musical - SCRUBS. This is my favourite thing ever, it is absolutely brilliant, soo hilarious and true to canon, long and plotty like an actual episode, also very unique and funny and everyone should abosolutely READ it. Even if you don't like/haven't seen much of Scrubs, read if you love any of the following: House/E.R./Firefly/Buffy...not saying why, not gonna spoil you but trust me!

Make your own kind of Music - Beautiful Thing. Oh this is utterly lovely, set after the end of the film, deals in a very realistic manner with Ste and Jamie's relationship. Nice and long and beautifully written. If you've ever wondered what happens next, this is the answer.

Somewhere, One day - The History Boys. I really enjoyed this, set years later it centers around Dakin and his life, after Lockwoods's death he ends up meeting Irwin again and..well read for yorself.

For wherever you go, I will go - V for Vendetta. Gorgeous and heartbreaking about Ruth and Valerie.

More recs coming up, but too tired to read/write right now.
