OMG HELP!

I am meant to be showing a gay themed film in the JCR on monday but I want it to be in the JCR email which is going today and I don't know what to show.

:(

Most of the films that I have seen and love no one would have heard of and I have no chance of discovering in video shops.

Options available:

Philadelphia - is it good? Is it too mainstream/not properly dealing with issues?

Broken hearts club
- Same questions, reviews tell me it is too cliched, playing up with stereotypes, not really what I want

Bad Education
- Have seen it and absolutely adore it, but have already shown a foreign film, so am not sure...

Anything else??? Which I will be able to find in Oxford soon.

"Philadelphia"'s quite good, but it's an AIDS themed movie rather than a gay themed movie.

Maybe go for a classic, "My Own Private Idaho" should be available in most DVD shops as it has been released not that long ago. And it's got all the Shakespeare in it! ;-)

Or you could always go with "Brokeback Mountain"...

It didn't bore me but I did find it rather unsatisfying at the end. Any suggestions?

Philadelphia is awesome. Might make you cry. V serious.

Velvet Goldmine is also awesome, but also confusing. Good for Lit majors.

I might still go for Philadelphia, only I haven't seen it and not all the reviews are positive, some are saying it is trying too hard to appeal to the mainstream and I am not sure I want that. Can you tell me more about it?

I absolutely adore Velvet Goldmine, but I think it might be too weird for most. Oh and Lit Major? Don't speak like an American!

This one's foreign but I recommend Ma Vie En Rose (http://imdb.com/title/tt0119590/). Most Blockbuster stores should carry that title.

If you need some more titles, I've listed all the gay films I've seen here (http://trolleys.livejournal.com/51926.html). :)

Thanks! Wow that list is absolutely awesome, only having more chouce just makes all of this more difficult. My list of films to see is become longer and I am nowhere near making a decision.
