It had Brad Pitt, it had Orlando Bloom, it had many men in gorgeous armour and mini leather skirts. I was always going to like this film, now that I've seen it, I actually love it.
Ok, lets start with the pretty, there was a lot of that.
Brad Pitt as Achilles was absolutely perfect for the role, he along with Eric Bana's Hector made the film. It had huge epic battles, death scenes that kinda almost made me cry but it was Achilles that I loved. Not only because we sow a lot of him naked, although that helped too, but he came into the role and was good. He was a bit wooden at first but wow Brad can act. It is really hard in a film like this where you not only know what is going to happen but can't chose a side. There are no good/bad guys, which makes the fight scenes especially painful to watch, whoever gets hurt. The one with Achilles and Hector was horrible, not production wise, it was well made, but I didn't want him to die! And I didn't want him to not die, if that makes any sence.
Uh Paris, not the bright spot of the film, don't get me wrong I love Orly, and to give him credit he played a spoiled, cowardly, young, haughty prince pretty well. He just wasn't very likable, and didn't really have a big part, not counting killing Achiles, which made everyone hate him. He is a coward, basicly causes the war with his reckless behaviour and runs away from a battle, clinging to his brother's legin a very suggestive manner. He was pretty enough, considerably more than Helen, but he had a bow. Again. I don't want him to be the bow guy forever. He so needs a different role to show his acting abilities, if he has them.
Helen, well she wasn't as bad as I'd feared, mainly because she wasn't there all that often. Her beauty was pretty much nonexistent and Hector's wife was much more beautiful in a tragic way.
Hector and Paris's father was so perfect for his role, he was so noble and great and wise, I loved that man. Don't have a clue of his name though and since it's after 1, I am allowed the lack of knowledge and eloquence.
A couple of things did annoy me though, like Troy didn't fall in two weeks, more like in ten years. And also Paris died, Manaleus got Helen back at the end. Not so much in the movie, where everyone but Paris died, showing the moral of it that he maybe a coward, but he is alive, so Ha! There are more but I'm no expert. need to read the Illiad, at least I can picture the pretty when reading. *g*
I think it was worth watching it on the big screen as a lot would be lost if not. It doesn't match the supremacy of something like Lord of the Rings, but it was reat fun and I didn't get bored once. That can be because I am ridiculously easily pleased, and there are a lot of divided opinions about it. So no guarantees here. But without much prior knowledge of the Illiad, it is a great, fun film.
They showed the HP trailer and it was so good, I wanttoseeitnow! Everything is so much larger than life and great and I really can't wait. One minor thing, since when do Dementors fly? I sure don't know.
I am not going to be around much next week, as really need to revise, and due to my complete lack of self control, when it comes to tempatation I will try to prohibit my access to the internet. Am going to hide my laptop somewhere secret. All luck wishes concerning exams will be greatly appreciated.
