I know I failed my maths test today. Badly. But am stragely not concerned. In other news, I had an interesting conversation with a friend in my maths lecture (no, that's not why I failed the test) and it turns out she reads and writes fanfiction and knows what slash is. How cool is that. Well I already knew she was reading CSI fic, (she'd mentioned a couple of times) she is majorly obsessed with it and I promised her I'll watch it to see what it's all about. But today she said that she started writing (well not so much said, but wrote, we tend to write notes to each other in our books, as it is sneakier than talking. Well we talk too, only I am the one that gets told off all the time, and she is not, ever.) (also I promise to stop with the brackets, really) And I asked he what and she said fanfiction, but not slash. And I wrote I do, above the not slash part. She wrote kinky and I said yes. Considering I've never told her I read or write fic before that, it went rather well, I did specify it's Harry Potter and she said she'd seen links to HP fics. She didn't seem too keen on the idea of slash, and said it's not her thing, to which I added yet, and said I'll corrupt her yet. Am planning to, she didn't seem to mind and told me to show her what she is missing. She even showed me her notebook with things she's written and I showed her my book which has the drabbles I wrote recently, (I write in the library in my frees, more fun than doing homework, also the thought of  having porn amongst my work is strangely uplifting, also it's in the library with lots of my friends around, good thing my handwriting is appaling.)

Now what I need is to live up to my word and show her that slash is indeed great, I just don't know how. Do I get her to read something very mild, or not, should it be long or short, angsty or funny, and what pairing. It has to be HP, I am not looking through CSI fics without having seen a single episode, but she likes the books. Can you rec me fics that would be a good first time dip into slash?

I have to go write an english essay for tomorrow, will be working 4 days a week for the next 5 weeks, me thinks survival won't be easy.

PS. If you missed them, I finally wrote the Drabble requests! :D

Small world, indeed. :))) I wish I found someone like that in my school (no chances at all). Can you believe it, we have an American exchange student and she hasn't heard of fanfiction at all (!!!)........

And now the suggestions:

1)Irresistible Potion by Rhysenn (longish but really tender and touching, PG13, on Schnoogle.com)

2)Gold-Tinted Spectacles by [livejournal.com profile] beren_writes (Also really lovely; even longer, though; sequel under way; NC 17 and R versions available)

Both greatly written, with magnificent ideas and language.

Thank you. :)
I was thinking of IP, it's the first fic I ever read and it got me into slash, but it is quite long and I am not sure if she'll like it. Not that I can see how anybody cannot like it, I really need to reread it, it's more than 2 years since I read it.
As for the second one, I haven't read it, will do as soon as I have the time. What pairing is it? So do you think that H/D is what I should rec her?

Lots of people haven't heard of fanfiction :D But I was very surprised at the way she just said, "not slash", considering she didn't know that I know what slash is. It was very cool though.

Hey,i think you should go with h/d as well, i mean, i made robyn read it and she seems to like it, although i'm not entirely sure. I made her read UL but i don't think she has yet, but she told me she's read Beautiful World and that she really liked the cherry scene - obviously!( or was that beneath you?) I mean who can resist it, so if it's not IP then it should be either of the other two. So who is that friend of yours, have i seen her?

UL! It's a good idea, but very long and not much slash yet :( But Beneath you has the cherry scene,(I think, god I read these ages ago) and it's happy, I don't think that BW is the best way to start her off, it is just so sad *sobs* But what about that first fic you send Robyn, was it one of Cassie's? Maybe that's a good way to start. Her name is Rachael, and you don't know her. But on Sunday someone from your class strted working with me in John Lewis, I think her name is Emma, but I could be making it up.

Well, H/D is the main slash pairing I read so yes, rec her something H/D. I mean, the other most popular pairs are H/R, which I don't like or read, and H/Snape, which is too controversial for a introduction to the slashworld.

If you can, read [personal profile] beren_writes's works, especially GTS. They are all great, she has imagination I would kill for. :))

And for IP, I adore it but being the smut lover I am, I wish it got... hotter at the end. Anyway, why do you think she may not like it?

H/R is not really popular is it? I didn't think so, Remus/Sirius is, but I find that fairly dull. And yes H/S is too odd for first timers.

I think I will send her some H/D even though she said she doesn't like Harry and likes Ron, which is just odd.
I will send her IP's first chapter and a short funny fic, one of Maya's perhaps, will see.

I don't have a particular reason for thinking she won't like it, of course there is a possibility.
